Tyler Ergonomics

Terms of Service
& Informed Consent.

Plain-language terms for office ergonomics consulting with Rick Tyler. Please read them before you book a session or send photos of your workstation.

Last updated November 2026

Who these terms cover

These terms apply to services from Tyler Ergonomics, the office-ergonomics practice of Rick Tyler, MS in kinesiology, at tylerwork.com. The practice focuses on office ergonomics: virtual and remote assessments for home offices and other office settings, and local on-site visits on the Northshore.

By scheduling a session, paying for a service, taking part in an assessment, or submitting a form that asks you to accept these terms, you agree to what is written here. If you are booking for an employer or other organization, you confirm that you are allowed to do so.

What the service is — and what it is not

Tyler Ergonomics provides educational and consultative services. A session may include a review of your workstation, how you sit and work, habits that add strain, and written recommendations you can use afterward. That is guidance from an ergonomist. It is not medical diagnosis, medical treatment, physical therapy, chiropractic care, or any other licensed clinical service.

An assessment does not diagnose an injury or illness, does not prescribe treatment, and does not create a doctor–patient or therapist–patient relationship. Recommendations are based on ergonomics, not on a medical exam.

If you have pain, numbness, weakness, or other symptoms that are severe, persistent, or getting worse, see a qualified healthcare professional. Ergonomics recommendations can sit alongside medical care. They do not replace it. Follow any limits your own clinician has given you.

Your responsibility

You decide whether to follow the recommendations, and how. You are responsible for setting up and using your chair, desk, computer, and other equipment safely, and for stopping any change that causes pain or does not feel right. Tyler Ergonomics does not control your workplace after the session and cannot make the changes for you unless a separate on-site visit has been agreed.

Share accurate information about your setup, your work, and any limits on what you can do. Recommendations are only as complete as what you show and tell us. Results differ from person to person. Comfort or productivity may improve, and it may not. Nothing in a session is a promise of a particular outcome.

Limits of a virtual assessment

Many sessions are done by live video, still photos, a short video clip, or a combination of those. A camera shows only what is in the frame. Lighting, angle, a single moment in the day, or a photo taken from one side can hide things that would be obvious in the room — the rest of the workstation, how you move between tasks, or a setup you use at another time of day.

Recommendations from a virtual or remote session reflect those limits. They are professional guidance from the information available, not a full view of every place you work. If an on-site visit on the Northshore would answer a question the camera cannot, we can talk about whether that is a better fit.

Scheduling, cancellation, and rescheduling

Session time is held for you once it is booked. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours’ notice by phone or email. With that notice, we will make a reasonable effort to offer another time.

A session missed without notice, or cancelled or rescheduled inside that 24-hour window, may be charged. The details of your appointment, including the time and how we will meet, are confirmed when you book.

Payment

Fees are the price shown when you book, or the amount in a written quote for employer, group, or on-site work. Please pay as described at booking or in that quote — generally before the session or when the session takes place, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. A quote for an organization describes the scope of that engagement. Work outside that scope is quoted separately.

Photos, video, and your information

Photos, video, and other images of you or your workstation are used to prepare and deliver your assessment and any written report. Please do not send images you are not comfortable sharing for that purpose. We do not sell your photos, video, or personal information.

If you are the individual client, we do not share your images or session details with an employer unless you authorize that in writing. Information you share about symptoms, health history, or your work is used to prepare and deliver the service.

Workstation images, photos, or video are used in a before-and-after gallery, or in any other public example, only with your written permission. You may decline that use and still receive the full service. Written permission is specific to that use. You can ask us to stop using an approved image in new materials by emailing rick@tylerwork.com.

Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by Louisiana law, Tyler Ergonomics and Rick Tyler are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for injury, discomfort, lost work, or other loss that results from how you or your organization choose to set up a workstation, choose equipment, or apply recommendations after a session. The service is consultative. It is not a guarantee that pain will resolve, that an injury will be prevented, or that a particular product is right for you.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that Louisiana law does not allow us to limit. If you are not comfortable with these limits, please do not book a session.

Louisiana law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You and Tyler Ergonomics agree that the state and federal courts located in Louisiana are the place to resolve a dispute about these terms or the services, unless a law that cannot be waived says otherwise.

Updates

We may update these terms as the practice changes. The date below is the current version. For a session you have already booked, the terms posted at the time you booked apply to that engagement, unless we both agree otherwise.
